Carol has been involved with Aberford Interiors for all of her adult life. Set up by her mother Shirley as a small antique shop, in what is now the tearoom in the 1970’s, the business developed into a stripped pine furniture business when her father John joined Shirley to turn it into a full time business and then latterly into the Interiors destination it has now become. It was never Carol’s intention to work for her parents and she tried very hard not to, spending 5 years working in Belgium and Holland before returning to Yorkshire.
In those days the business was a truly family affair run by John, Shirley and Carol and her brother William. Sadly Shirley died in 1986 and William decided to follow his love of wine and eventually set up his own wine business from his home in Madrid. Carol continued to work for the business in a small way whilst bringing up her three children until 2003 when John decided to retire. A few years later, having set up the kitchens side of the business again she met Kevin who originally designed the first ‘Aberford Interiors’ website. He also had ideas on retirement having worked in the print industry for all of his working life. This was not to be and in 2010 they jointly took over the whole business from John and have developed it ever since.
Carol heads the design side of Aberford Interiors and enjoys being able to do some of the kitchens designs for clients as well as sourcing all the interiors and vintage products for the shop.
Kevin worked for many years in the print industry before setting up his own website company and doing the first Aberford Interiors website. He then went to Spain hoping to retire but was soon lured back to Yorkshire and together with Carol has been running Aberford Interiors ever since. Kevin runs the shop and heads the interiors sales side of the business.
